There is much to do in Colorado Springs for those who are a bit older. The good news is this community has incredible resources to offer for most people. Exploring the outdoors or enjoying a fine meal is easy to do. Take a closer look at some of the Colorado Springs things to do that may appeal to you.

Local Events and Festivals

A good starting point is with Colorado Springs local events and festivals. Each year a variety of events take place throughout the city and surrounding suburbs. For those looking for Colorado Springs concerts, check out the Woodland Music Services that happens all summer long from June through September. It is an outdoor experience featuring a range of musical performers. The Old Colorado City Farmers Market also takes place from June through October each year.

There are many other Colorado Springs events in the area to explore. For example, every July, the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo and Parade takes place in the city. It is also fun to explore the Donkey Derby Days that happen every year in August. Come and watch the fun at the Rocky Mountain State Games as well.

For those who love to enjoy a good tasting wine, you will find plenty of options to choose from at the Vine and Notes Wine Festival that takes place in August. The Manitou Springs Wine Festival also takes place this month. Taste of Pikes Peak happens each year in September.

Or, for those that love old classics, check out the Hot Rod Rock and Rumble in August each year. It is the perfect way to see some of the oldest cars in the area. The Mountain Arts Festival in Woodland Park is an exceptional experience, also taking place in August each year.

Senior Resources

Colorado Springs senior resources can help you to stay connected and enjoying life to the fullest. There are a range of resources available within the community that offers something for most people. There are a number of senior centers in the area that can provide outstanding support and socialization options for seniors. The Colorado Springs Senior Center on North Hancock Avenue is one of the best. It offers a gathering place for those who are over the age of 55 who want to learn and have fun.

Other locations nearby can provide additional support and guidance. That includes the Alliance for Retired Americans who need help to stand up for themselves for medical or financial needs. The American Association of Retired People (AARP) has local chapters in this area too, which provide excellent access to the resources you need to live your best life. Colorado Senior Lobby is also present in the community to provide support for those over the age of 60.

Explore all there is to do and be a part of in Colorado Springs when you are over 50.

The Dutch Nelsen Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association meets the third Saturday of each month at the Elks Lodge, 3400 North Nevada. We've been meeting since we were chartered in 1988 as the state's first (and only) group of those who served in Korea, war or peace. We welcome any and all veterans, but especially those over 50!!! Keep us in mind and have anyone interested contact me----the Chapter's secretary. Thank you!

Mike
